Dracula New Haven Theatre reviews
Good but.....
I am a big fan of Theresa and absolutely adore her show. I had previously read some reviews before attending, and I found many of the negative reviews to be quite accurate. The positives: her humor and beauty are exceptional, and those shoes!! She showed great kindness to the children, which was heartwarming. Although I didn't anticipate a reading, I would be dishonest if I said the thought didn't cross my mind. Luckily, the loved ones I wanted to hear from were my grandparents and not involved in any tragic circumstances like some others. The energy level dipped after her initial entrance on stage, despite her spending considerable time with the front row. I'm unsure if they paid extra for this privilege. From a distance, it was easy to lose connection with the performance. As she moved up one of the aisles, the live environment felt notably different from the more controlled nature of the show. I have faith in her abilities, though I don't claim to comprehend the method behind it. I pondered if the influx of 2500 souls attempting to convey messages contributed to her scatteredness. Some readings appeared to drag on a bit, but perhaps she persisted until the message was received. It would have been better if she interacted with all sections of the room and walked up the aisles. Part of the thrill was catching a glimpse of her, even if we weren't selected for a reading. Seeing her was a highlight. I also believe it could have enhanced the energy throughout the room if she introduced Larry on stage or highlighted where he was standing. Many of us have also become fans of Larry.
Overall, we had a good time and enjoyed the experience. I left feeling much like how I came in, hoping those who received messages found some solace. I couldn't shake the memory of a lady who seemed desperate for a message; her journey home must have been challenging. At the end of our show, two boys she read for had lost their mother, and their tearful expressions were deeply moving. I found it touching that she invited them backstage for photos.
